Image Analysis
includes a description of:
- Formal Elements in an image are essentially
any shape, color or positioning that "signifies" (= has meaning...often
because of the options NOT taken).
- Formal Relations have to do with how the
various elements relate to each other: are they contrasted, balanced,
unified? What kind of POV is offered?
- Contextual Relations refer to the fact all
images occur in particular rhetorical contexts: they're produced
according to conventions and consumed by particular people for
particular purposes.
